Phase-1: This year we are focusing on raising awareness about an eminent Environmental threat to our State, California Wildfires. There was a need to indentify ‘Indicator Counties’ in terms of fire susceptibility. We visited many affected areas and decided to focus on two counties in California that are regularly affected by wild fires, namely Kern & Lake county. We defined these as ‘Indicator counties‘.
Based on our visits, interviews, mapping and data research, we came up with a consolidated information packet to raise awareness about the seriousness of this issue, causes of these fires, and simple steps home owners and land owners can take to be fire safe. We participated in the October-2018 Maker Faire to disseminate this information to the wider audience and raise awareness. Our data and findings are displayed below.
